Individual Mentoring
Individual in-job mentoring will support the jobseeker in his or her new work environment. Trained mentors will help settle the employee into a new job, they understand the issues that may be faced and will work with the employee in developing a positive relationship with the employer and their workplace. The mentor will provide the following service:
- Meet and greet employer and employee
- Provide overview of mentoring service
- Detailed individualised assessment report on employee incorporating: • identify issues & concerns • behavioural issues • personal presentation • communication skills / initiative • punctuality • overall fit in organisation
- Provide workable solutions for both employer and employee concerning Time management and punctuality, personal presentation, communication issues with supervisors and co-workers, rights and responsibilities, assistance with on the job learning, cultural issues
- Shadowing employee observing them in their role
- Identifiying areas requiring development and/or training
- Regular site visits with supervisors permission to work with employee to achieve set goals
- Provide regular follow ups based on individual needs
- Regular reports outlining issues dealt with and outcomes
- The mentor will provide help with personal concerns like budgeting, health care, banking, family issues, substance use and habits issues and concerns.
Logistical Mentoring
This particular mentoring service has been designed for Training providers to assist with the smooth running of training and workshops/seminars.
Let us take care of all the issues around organising training courses and seminars, like:
- Meet and greet of participants
- Transfers from airport to accommodation/training venue
- Transfers to medical checkups and uniform outfit
- Hiring of venues
- Organising catering
- Individual mentoring - on-call on weekends & after hours
- Assist participants with the completion of documentation
- Provide a Summary Report to the training provider

David Ahboo is our Mentoring Coordinator.
David is of Torres Strait Islander descent and has lived and worked in remote Indigenous communities for most of his life. He speaks two languages, Torres Strait Island Creole and English, was born and raised on Thursday Island and recently lived in the Northern Peninsula Area before moving to Cairns.
A motor mechanic by trade, David has worked extensively with CDEP particpants in various remote commnuites, coordinating thier training and assisting in the devlopment of their technical skills. David has also invested considerable time in the development of his own skills, attaining various qualifcations in a wide range of fields.
David continues to maintain an active role in his community and those that he has previously worked in through his trade and recreational activites.
